Things are really starting to get interesting in the Atlantic basin, Dorian is the named storm that is making news this week. It is a tropical storm, with potential to increase into a hurricane. MOst models have it reaching CAT 1, but a few have it going higher. Either way, preparations are in order.

Looks like Wednesday for passing near Puerto Rico. Let’s keep all our fellow citizens there in our thoughts and prayers, as the damage from last year’s Hurricane Maria complicates preparations.

Saturday looks likely for an impact in Florida. Still a long range forecast right now, with the NHC showing a range of likely times.

  • Review your plans
  • Stockpile at least 3 days of drinking water
  • Make sure you have a way to cook food
  • Check generator fuel and test everything
  • Fuel up your vehicle now
  • It is very hot and humid at this time of year, so think about ways to keep “cool” without electric power

You can get more information on Dorian at our Tropical Weather Briefing page.

I will send out more updates as things become more clear.
