Hurricanes and Tropical Storms can cause deadly conditions – please be very careful:
- Storm surge and other types of flooding can be deadly.
- Water in streets and ditches can be deceptive. Children can be swept away into storm drains. So can cars.
- Never go outside in a storm, especially in the so called “eye”. Wind direction and intensity can shift dramatically. Airborne debris can be lethal projectiles.
- Water and electricity don;t mix. Beware of downed live power lines. Beware of extension cords and power generators. Do not deploy or operate in wet conditions.
- Carbon monoxide fumes from generators and running cars are deadly. Do not let those fumes get inside a garage or house.
